Apple Pages
I think pages is a good application, but it's not really designed to write an essay; therefore I wouldn't call it a word processing tool, I think it's more designed to make birthday cards and make newspaper articles. Although there are also many different things that your can do on this software including writing an essay you just need to know how to use it. You can make newspaper articles, flyers, blank documents, tables, letters, brochures, posters and cards in it. They have many different built templates that you can choose from like it was explained earlier they are all very good because in the templates they give you options on what type of template you want like casual or party. There are many different tools in it but you can find them all in word so it is not that special. This software does a lot of good things but there are some perks in it like it does not have as much variety as word but it does what it was intended to do. I like that there are many different type of templates that you can choose from and there is a lot of different fashions of them. I don't like that they don't have as many different tools as word does but it still has a good variety. You can do SO much on Pages I LOVE it!
Decoration and making things look good is great for this application. There are different templates you can choose from, to make your document look good.

Microsoft Word can be used for pretty much anything one wants. Most people will only use it for the basic stuff though, like writing letters or essays. Not many people realize there is so much more you can do with it.

One of the tools that is really good is the font tool, there are many different fonts and there are also other tools to write with italic or bold font. It gives you a good writing tool and it displays the final product in a very professional format. This is a very good tool to use as something to write an essay because it is presented nicely. I like that it is useful, and it is usually used in a very professional manner. It could definitely be used in class to make a project. You can also insert Word Art to make it look nice. You can insert tables and organize the text into coloumns so that it resembles a newspaper article. I use it all the time for homework and other things too. You can do a lot of things like change the color, font, and size of text.
Text Edit
Text edit is not a very good application. If you are planning on typing an essay you should use Microsift Word. There are two good things about it: the first is that it can read and say what's typed in. For example, if you type "I like pizza." and go to edit then click on speech, it would say the selected words. The second thing is that it opens up quickly, so when word doesn't open up for some reason, try text edit. This software can't really be used in class because it has no templates and no choice of fonts. So if you are going to type an essay, stick to word. The difference between the two is that on word you have many choices of font and size. Text edit is a good program to use because it opens quickly and saves fast. If you save the program to your dock, then when you log on you can easily take down notes. It is so fast that you do not even need to bring a notebook, when your teacher is giving instructions, you can have already opened it and have finished taking notes before the teacher has spoken. (Hypothetically).

Ommwriter is an amazing program that plays music while you are typing. It does a lot of other things too like make a little noise whenever you type. You can change the font size, background music, backgrounds and some day even more. Ommwriter puts fun into typing, and this application is the best way to type a long essay. It is a lot of fun, you get to write and listen to music or sounds as well. I didn't think I would like it but it has everything I need. The only bad thing is that I had to copy and paste it into word to print. It didn't let me print from the actual application.

Printshop is a good application for designing greeting cards, calendars, pamphlets, and envelopes. You are able to insert text, but I suggest Microsoft Word or Pages if you are writing an essay or a report. But it is still a useful application in several ways. I use printshop when ever I can, because I love it so much. I have used this application in every single one of my classes.

This was good to use in my lower school classes, but now, I need to move on.

I've been using WordPad as my writing tool ever since I moved to England, into my new school in which they only use Apple products. My computer has some issues with converting files. Bringing a Pages file home doesn't work, and sometimes a normal Word document wont even open either. And so it's a Apple versus PC war.
However, over the months of my teacher yelling because I did't have my files, I found out that my computer and the school computers don't have a problem with WordPad. All you have to do is bring that WordPad file with you, copy and paste it into a word document, add a header to your essay or other format and you're done.
